[Solved] Unable to connect to Panther robot

we work with the Panther robot several months ago, and back then everything works fine. But however, now when we want to work with the Panther robot again and we cannot even connect to it. We can ping 10.15.20.1, but we cannot ping 10.15.20.2 as indicated in the Quick start for the panther robot. What may be wrong?

Hi volcanhuang.

Sorry for late response. Could you provide me with serial number of your robot? This way, I will have more deities on what might have happened to this particular unit.

In order to try to debug your problem. Could you either log into the router and check what devices are logged into the router? Equivalent to that is running sudo nmap -sP 10.15.20.0/24 in terminal. This will return you all devices connected to the given network. It might happen that for some reason the router assigned different IP to the Raspberry Pi. We want to exclude this case.

Other opinion is that Raspberry Pi is not being powered or is not booting. You can access service space and check if the computer is running. Here are steps on how to access this space. On a Raspberry Pi side, if a red LED is light up, this means the computer is powered. If a green LED is flashing, this indicates that there is activity on a SD card and the OS should be at least booting.

Dear Krzysztof,
we would like to reinstall the operating system. Removing the payload from the Panther will take us one day and last time we could not find the computer with the ROS install. Based on the attached screenshot, where is the ROS computer exactly located and how can we access to the SD-card? In the tutorial it just says to remove a “top plate”. But what is the “top plate”?

Hi Tobias_Brett.

Can we schedule a meeting tomorrow where we will discuss how to solve your problem?

Best regards,
Krzysztof Wojciechowski.

Dear Krzysztof,
could we schedule for Monday? Wencan is out of office, today. We can take off the payload until noon and we would be ready to start working directly upon your recommendations. Would you be available at 1pm the 27th?
Best, Tobias

Hi Tobias_Brett.

Monday at 1 PM is fine. I will schedule a meeting.
Taking off the payload is crucial since there is no way to access this part of the robot with anything mounted on top rails.
