Installation instructions for Virtual Machine Image

Hi,
So I downloaded the “husarion-vm.vmdk.xz” file from Downloads | Husarion. I wanted to ask what are the exact instructions to install this file onto my computer? It isn’t a .iso file, so I am unsure. I’d appreciate help.

Hi geasrmotion789,

The husarion-vm.vmdk.xz is archived virtual disk file for VirtualBox.

  1. Install VirtualBox
  2. Extract the archive, you will get a husarion-vm.vmdk file.
  3. Start VirtualBox and create new virtual machine for “Linux” → “Ubuntu (64-bit)”
  4. When creator ask for virtual drive, choose “Use an existing virtual hard disk file” and select 'husarion-vm.vmdk`.
  5. Start your virtual machine.

Łukasz

@lukasz.mitka Is it possible to install the husarion-vm.vmdk file directly into the drive and not just a virtual machine? If so, how could I do this?

It is not possible to install it directly to drive.
The image contains Ubuntu 16.04 with ROS and Husarnet.
If you want it installed directly on your drive, you will have to manually install ROS and Husarnet.

Łukasz
