Hello,
Unfortunately, we’ve had a gear inside the wheel motor of one of our ROSBot Pro 3 robots fail. One of the teeth on an internal motor gear has shorn, which makes the wheel turn inconsistently.
I’m wondering what options might be available to replace the motor? I have some old rosbot pro 2’s that could be used as donor parts. Alternatively if there is a part I can source? Finally, aside from connecting to the internal controller boards, do I need to do any firmware/software configuration?
Thank you, and Regards,
Tim
Hi @Tim_RMIT,
it is possible to replace the motor from ROSbot 2 PRO, they are identical. After such replacement, no software reflash is needed. If you would like help in this process, let me know.
Generally, ROSbot 3 as a successor shares many identical components. The most important changes were the upgrade of the on-board computer to RPi5 and integration with new camera and lidar sensors.
Hello @RafalGorecki ,
Thank you for the information. I would appreciate any hints aside from finding the where the cables end up. However, if they are interchangeable, then I think that might be manageable.
Thanks.
Thanks again. I took a look this morning and all seems pretty straight forward, hardware wise.
The key is that the appropriate plug is connected to the appropriate motor. You can check the order in the photo below.
